| - Visited last Sunday before the Cavs game after seeing the 4 1/2 star Yelp rating. Let me start by saying I like coffee and have been drinking it daily for over 25 years now... probably longer than the baristas who were working have been alive. I am, however, NOT a coffee snob. I make it at home and drink it black. Also pick up an occasional mocha frappuccino, or white chocolate mocha from Starbucks. I am basically your average coffee drinker.
While trying to decide what to try we explained to the barista that we have never been to Pour Cleveland before and he, in a condescending way, says "well, what do you normally order at a coffee shop?". We tell him what we would normally order at Starbucks and he advises us that they do not have anything like that, but he can make us a latte with a little extra sweetness to it. We were also advised that skim milk is not offered which is surprising (my wife has a dairy sensitivity) and only almond milk is available for those who can't handle lactose. After about five minutes we receive our lattes which are still not sweet and are actually a little bitter. After adding a little more sugar my latte is decent, but my wife just couldn't drink hers.
My biggest complaint with Pour was with the atmosphere. It was so quiet here. No one talking. No music playing. It was just an uncomfortable, stuffy, silence. Not a fun environment... dear God they needed some music playing to break the silence. Between the arrogant barista and library environment we weren't impressed. Probably an okay place for coffee gurus, or maybe if you get your coffee to go, but it certainly wasn't our scene.
