  • I found this vendor through The Knot. From my research, she seemed to be the highest-rated and lowest cost vendor for bridal hair and makeup, so I contacted Melinda for a quote towards the end of August for my December wedding. Once we had agreed on a place, time, and services, she provided the contract via email and I paid a 50% deposit. We scheduled for a two-hour window. It was easy enough to schedule my bridal hair preview for October where I brought various Pinterest pins that appealed to me. She barely looked at each one and then started working. She was very professional during the bridal hair preview and even though I didn't have my headpiece yet, I left with a style I was happy with. A little less than a month prior to my wedding day, I had contacted her to request to change the location where services were to be provided and she promptly responded indicating there would be no problem. On the day of the wedding, she arrived around 10 minutes late, but assured me two hours was more than enough time for her to complete her work. I had let her know that I had yet another pin I wanted her to mirror my hairstyle after (which, although it was different, was still very similar in style - mid-low updo), she looked at it, and began on my hair promptly after. I was amazed at her speed and also how many tools she brings with her. Since this was the first time she was applying my makeup, I again showed her a few Pinterest pins for the look I was going for and back at the bridal hair preview, she had requested that I save a few pictures of how I typically look with makeup on nights I was going out so that she had an idea of how much/little makeup I wear. After I showed her those, she began working. I had requested that she use matte makeup where ever possible (I didn't want there to be any shine or sparkle in unexpected areas in pictures) and she complied. It was my first time getting airbrush makeup done but it was fun and it lasted me the entire night. We had a little hangup with my eyeliner - I'm a big fan of the cat eye look, but it wasn't coming out quite like I typically am used to seeing when I do it myself, so after a few attempts by her, I tried my best to change it without messing up anything else and we got to a point where I was happy with it. At this point, it was getting close to the end of the two-hour appointment, so I was a little anxious about it, but Melinda was patient with me and did her best. The remainder of the contract price was paid in cash (she charges a fee if you use a credit card on the day services are rendered). Both hair and makeup stayed put the ENTIRE day (8+ hours), so I really can't complain. I would have given 4.5 stars (as opposed to 4); the reason I can't give 5 stars is just that the experience wasn't completely perfect, but I do feel that I received a great deal for the price.
