  • Be wary of Dr. Gruber! Lucky are those with good experiences. I had gone a number of times to him for a series of knee shot fillers for a bad knee, at first he was only giving three shots per series which was odd in itself since they were not as affective as getting five shots I've been accustomed too from other ortho surgeons in the past. Then recently in late 2017 he changed to four shots per series which still was not as good. Other orthopedic surgeons in the Valley prefer five shot fillers because its proven good results with longer spans of useful knees and longer in between shots. I'm sorry I didn't change this doctor sooner, I am paying for that error now, I wouldn't be going through so much pain and distress with both my knees as a result of the last fourth shot given by this doctors PA who decided for some reason that afternoon I was going to be her experiment, she clearly said as I watched in horror her injecting the filler on the monitor "I am going to give it differently this time, I'm letting it go wherever it lands in the knee, wherever it goes it goes!" I should have asked her to get the doctors approval first but didn't have the chance, she was pretty quick to inject the needle, it was like watching a fishing expedition on the monitor and oh brother it was a long and painful shot! Worse yet, immediately I went into so much unusual pain as never before, I was unable to walk, stand or sleep since then, it's been months!!! I had to get a follow up for the extreme pain and disability, I wanted answers to why she did this and what he thought about it and what would he recommend for me now, btw I waited four and a half hours my appointment was at 11:10am I didn't get out till after 4pm! Instead, before he even sees me he ordered xrays of both knees, then he comes in and injected steroid shots into both my knees since the good knee was suffering from supporting the bad one, with pain as well but he didn't address the reason for the original swollen painful bad knee. After a discussion this doctor treated me like a bad person for even accusing his PA of this, what? He didn't think his PA did anything wrong nor out of the usual manner of treatment, he defended his PA's unauthordox shot, of course that attitude doesn't protect other patients doing more harm than good and I'm stuck with an overly swollen-encapsulated right knee rendering it a deformed appearance, yet his expression said it all...he couldn't care less.....beware!
