I made my firs visit to the Rocky River Nature Center this week, and wow, I was surprised by how great the Nature Center is. The Nature center is open most days during regular business hours. It boasts a cute gift shop with nice Metro Park paraphernalia and other fun items. There is a deck off the side of the building that walks you out over the Rocky River. The river was up due to the rains when I was there and it was a cool experience standing out over the rushing waters. They also have educational opportunities for kids. I particularly enjoyed looking at the fish and turtles they have, representations of what you can find in the local area.
I've been multiple times to the park here and I'm a fan of hiking / jogging the "Stairs of Death". This park is great to wander through or to go for an active hike. You may encounter runners while you're out and about too. The views from the top of the Stairs of Death are amazing. Be safe though, and stick to the paths. There are some more treacherous areas and I've seen some people out on the cliffs ledges....no bueno!
We're fortunate in this area to have such a great park system. Support the Metro Parks when you can and go for a hike, jog, or walk. You'll thank yourself.
