| - Accutemp are honest and fair air conditioning contractors!
Last summer I decided to replace my 25 year old A/C unit before it broke, and I was desperate to find a new one.
I scoffed at the, if it isn't broke don't fix it people, those are the people who get ripped off when their A/C breaks in the middle of summer in Arizona.
So I had the available funds, and I got the names for several A/C contractors. Some were personal referrals, others were SRP recommended. I double checked each company's record with the BBB and the AZ Registrar of Contractors, especially since in AZ we have so many A/C contractors, some of whom are scam artists.
I narrowed my list down to five companies and got estimates from them. I was of course looking for the lowest estimate, but I was also looking for the one with great customer service too. When you buy an A/C unit you generally deal with that company on an ongoing basis for maintenance.
Four of the companies gave me a quote for the exact same A/C unit which made them easy to compare. When I had all 5 estimates I called the one that offered me the lowest quote, had been professional, on time, and had a good service plan, which was Accutemp. I had another larger A/C contractor here in the valley whose quote was $700 higher than Accutemp, call me back a week after I got their estimate and they offered to undercut my lowest bid from any other company by $100. I told them no thanks. Why couldn't they have just offered me their best price on their initial estimate? I think that is sleazy, and I was not going to undercut another business who gave me their best price up front to save $100.
The range of quotes to do the exact same job with the exact same A/C unit varied from $400-$800 above the lowest bid. Which goes to show, that even reputable companies seem to be overcharging for new A/C units.
Accutemp did a good job, and I feel lucky that I found a trustworthy company.
