| - Let me tell you about my year with Desert 215...
I originally purchased my car (about $20k) from them in January and thought the deal was ok, nothing great. Everything was fine the first 2-3 months until one day I went up Mt Charleston. Coming down the mountain the car started shaking violently when the brakes started to get heated. It was like a space shuttle reentering earth's atmosphere. I brought the car back in and told them they sold me a car with faulty brakes and its needs to get fixed. They firmly refused.
Second encounter - One day I noticed my door panel was starting to peel up by the window on both doors, maybe from the heat. I still had my factory warranty and brought it in for a replacement. The man documented the problem and ordered the parts. When I received the call to come in for the repair (2 months later), I was told that only one panel was ordered and that they made a mistake. So after they installed the one they had they told me the car was ready. When I inspected the work, the door panel was just hanging on the door, loosely attached. I couldn't even believe they gave it back to me like that. Then they told me they didn't order the correct part for the door and had to use the warped piece from the faulty one. So now the new one is not attached correctly and looks bent.
Third encounter - Around October that year I noticed a clunking noise coming from the front end suspension. I was reaching the end of my factory warranty and needed to get it in before it expired. I ended up getting it to service with about 35,980 miles on it. Warranty expires at 36k so this was my only opportunity. I left the car with them for a day and a half, about 36 hours. After getting the car back and drove it home I didn't notice anything. The next day I had to drive about 30 miles to a site and it clunking the whole way there. I have no idea what they even replaced. When I got my car back it was very close to closing time and I was told by the service person they had no idea what the techs did but would email me the info. After 3 emails and 2 calls, I gave up. My warranty is currently expired and it's not their problem. Now I'll have to pay out of pocket for a repair that was covered under the factory warranty.
Fourth encounter - Its Dec 1 and I called the parts department to see if the second door panel came in yet. Apparently they have no such item and no record of the order ever being placed. After numerous calls and being hung up on, I finally got them to order the part that should have been ordered 7 months ago. Left the manager a message but I doubt, from the track record of this place, I will receive a call back.
