| - We saw an article about 12 Not to miss road trips of a lifetime in Nevada on social media and decided today since it was a beautiful day, to do just that. Left NLV about 230pm, stopped at the Alien store, to use the restroom and get some snacks, which is actually right next to the Cathouse Brothel. Interesting. Drove through Beatty, saw about 5 donkeys in the brush close the road just outside of town. Got to Rhyolite about 445pm. Saw the glass bottle house, some really old, fragile buildings, and creepy statues. Is that a penguin standing next to the miner statue? Wtf is a penguin doing in the middle of the desert? I agree with some other visitors, it would nice to not have to google everything and find out the history in the building or structure. Signage would be a great addition here so people can spend more time here. We basically drove 4 hours round trip and spent about 30 minutes driving past buildings that had weathered original signage, googling everything we could to get a history lesson. Wish we would have left earlier in the day so we could have stopped at Death Valley while we were out there. Disappointing drive but we did it and had great conversation on the way. Btw, if you happen to see the Alien convenience store out that way, don't stop there, go across the street. All the ice cream was melted and refrozen, dirty, made me question how long the food items have been there and if they're expired.
