  • My friends, I have found my oasis in the desert. I love Tiki bars. Frankie's has a soft spot in my heart (and always will), but I am enchanted by this place. "Enchanted" is a phrase that I do not use lightly here. The owner is super obvious in his love for Disney attractions and Imagineering, and it shows in the most perfect way: Detail. Detail is everywhere in a Disney experience, and this is perhaps one of the most non-Disney "Disney" experiences that I've had, and certainly from a bar. See the knife in the wall from Hunter S. Thompson? The fertility idol from Indiana Jones? Ghostbusters' Slimer making the rounds around Halloween? "Wilson"? Not the mention the Enchanted Tiki Room sculptures, talking Tiki head sculptures, portholes with swimming fish, and a storytelling pirate skeleton. If you do not take the time to explore the nooks and crannies of this little hideaway, then you are only getting a quarter of the experience. If you want a place in Vegas that feels like you've entered some magical tropical hideaway, well, this wins. Hands down. It's even less smoky inside, so for non-smokers, it's not as intrusive. Alright, alright, I've gushed about the atmosphere. Let's talk drinks and service. I love the staff there. From the bartenders to the servers, everyone is incredibly friendly, have great sense of humor, and can definitely hold a good conversation on slower days. On busier days, they are still pleasant, and if there is any stress, they take it well in stride. I look forward to saying "Hi" to everyone there every time I've gone. Great people. The drinks are amazing. Slightly more than Frankie's but certainly less than the Strip. For the amount of booze and flair they put into each drink, it's well worth the price. They even serve Dole Whip. Yes, like the "Disneyland Dole Whip" Dole Whip. They'll even add it to drinks like "Painkiller", and yes, it is tasty. They'll even garnish your drink with a plastic mermaid or monkey. Oh, how I've made it this far in life without plastic simians and mythological creatures adorning my drinks, I'll never know. But Golden Tiki has cured this grievous oversight. Golden Tiki excels in service, quality and atmosphere. If I need a "non Vegas" break, or a fast substitute for my Disneyland withdrawals, I make a beeline for this place. Still relatively new, it has immediately placed as one of my very top watering holes in Vegas. It really is a tropical hideaway in Vegas, and excels in providing that castaway, island feel. I'd probably move in if I didn't require the use of my liver for other things. But I think there are business restriction codes for that.
