This is a very cool hidden gem just north of MLK Drive and just west of Bratenahl. There is a large parking lot and a building at the far north end. To the west of the building is a park ranger private parking area and to the west of that is a wood chip trail that leads around the back of the building. Take the wood chip trail till you find a turnstile which is the entrance to the preserve.
Just before the turnstile there is a guest sign in book and laminated maps you can take with you or photograph before going in.
When you get inside you can turn left or right and be on the Perimeter / Loop Trail. This trail will also allow you to see the Overlook area (go left to get to overlook faster). The entire route is about 1.6 miles. The terrain is all flat in terms of elevation except for a few steps exiting if you've walked clockwise. On the eastern portion there is also a bit of a slant to the trail. The trail is hard dirt, grass or a combination except for a few areas where there are bridges.
I didn't explore the interior trails of which there are two: Monarch and Northern Harrier Trail.
No pets or bikes inside the preserve, but there are plenty of nicer than average benches and all the peace and quiet you could want. While the water isn't always in view, on the northern most part of the loop trail you can hear it lapping against the side peninsula.
