| - I really enjoyed this event. With only fourteen diners, one large table, and a private dining room, it was an intimate evening of dining and meeting new friends. Of course, the ambiance, food, and service were all excellent! Bravo! I may run out of words to describe the food.
Our first dish, Stewed Duck with Bamboo Shoots in Broth, was rich with flavour. It demanded seconds. If this is a sign of what's to come, it's going to be a great night!
The rest of the food came fast and furious, and every dish was nicely presented, with many of them sitting on a hot plate with a tea light under it, keeping it warm. Nice touch.
The Dongpo Pork, a buttery soft braised pork belly dish, was outstanding! It was so tender and succulent. The BBQ Pork was slices of pork belly, unlike the more typical char siu. Very good! Other pork dishes were Deep Fried Ribs with Minced Garlic and Honey, and Fried Rice. Both were also very good!
The Teppanyaki Bass was deboned and butterflied, served flat on a hot plate. We also had a Deep Fried Sea Bass with Sweet & Sour Sauce. Both were delicious!
Stir-Fried Lamb on a Stone Plate was served sizzling hot. Braised Beef Brisket with Tomatoes and Potatoes was served in a Hot Pot. The Braised Beef Slices in Spicy Golden Broth was spicier than we anticipated but was good, although a little hard to eat because of the slippery noodles and broth. Delicious dishes!
BBQ Chicken with Pumpkin Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce, and Pepper was delicious, even without the sauces. The Fried Chicken Wings with Salted Egg Yolks was a bold and delicious surprise (I hadn't read the menu). Yummy dishes!
Oh, we had some veggies too - Pea Sprouts in Golden Sauce (made with egg yolks). This is actually one of my favourite Chinese vegetables so I loved it.
To finish, we had Bread Temptation, a toasted loaf of bread topped with ice cream. Who knew something this simple could taste so good? Not to be forgotten, we had fresh pear and watermelon juices throughout the meal. Delicious!
I thoroughly enjoyed everything that was served and the service was outstanding! The only thing I would have changed is the pace of service. I would have liked more time between dishes to take better pictures and savour each bite alittle more. I actually missed shooting a few dishes. Maybe that's just me.
Thank you, Kris U., for arranging another wonderful evening, and Green Tea Restaurant, for hosting us. I will definitely be back!
PS - I'm terrible with remembering names so I hope everybody that I met checks in.
