| - Five stars for a hair salon is unheard of from me. I'm hate getting my hair cut: it takes ages, is always expensive and I never like the finished result until I go home and restyle it myself. But I seriously needed a cut (was looking like Monica from Friends with all the humidity!) and have a busy week so popped in to Club Mosheta.
The stylist did everything she could to accommodate me that day, working around my schedule despite it meaning I was still there as they were pretty much closing. They currently have a $35dollar + tax deal on a cut, wash and blow dry which is amazing value for downtown in such a good location. My hair was cut dry (unusual but which I personally like) then washed and styled into curls. I'm trying to grow it out and despite a willingness to have more taken off the ends than needed, just the perfect amount was cut (1 inch or so) so it just feels thicker, healthier and still a good length.
It's not a fancy salon experience. It's cost and almost homely: there's a resident dog curled up on their waiting couch and in was given lots of complimentary matcha tea and magazines (online on an iPad so lots of choice!) while i waited. Super chill, my kind of vibe. No pretension. I've yet to see how the cut will last, but right now I'm pretty damn happy!

Update: revisited here for the second time hoping to get the 5* service and cut I had the first time. Instead it was the fawlty towers of hairdressing! I cannot emphasize how bad this experience was: the woman doing my hair (not my original stylist, despite me requesting her the day before while making my appointment) was very nice...but genuinely appeared as though she had never handled hair in her life. I'll keep it brief but here's the summary:
1. Scalding water directly on my scalp without testing it with her hand
2. Soaked my face, shoulder and chest when realizing it was insanely hot and pulling away
3. Very rough: pulled out chunks of hair both washing and brushing afterwards
4. Never asked me where I parted my hair: starter cutting with a centre parting leaving everything now totally lopsided
5. Rough dried without a brush causing ridiculous looking static all over
6. Diffuser fell off the dryer, hit me in the face and fell to the floor...and she left it there.
7. Requested shaping at the front: told me she was finished without touching it
8. When I asked about shaping, pulled a large chunk from the front and chopped way too short into it and never blended it into the rest of my long hair. Looked like weird grown out bangs..
I eventually asked her to blend it and it's tolerable, but the cut is completely wonky because of the parting and it looks a week or more old: not freshly cut (still straggling bits everywhere). It's totally uneven and the entire experience was just horrendous. I didn't cause a fuss however made my disappointment with the cut known and they didn't charge, but terribly let down as I thought I had my found a great salon. Unfortunately it's back to the drawing board. I also forgot to mention that my coat was thrown over the reception desk, never hung up...the gorgeous cute resident dog I love so much there wasn't so adorable when he was slobbering all over it because it was left there. Total disrespect for patrons belongings (I still don't blame the dog: he's adorable).
You might get a great cut at a great price here: you might have a disaster experience. Honestly it's not worth the risk: I won't ever be back.
