| - I'm not sure where the other reviewers went to dinner, but it's hard to believe they went to Black Thorne. We decided to try this new restaurant tonight as a friend had recommended to us. I did not check it out on Yelp until after our meals had arrived and was so surprised they did not have tons of 4-5 star reviews.
Deb, the hostess greeted us and promptly found a booth for us. Mary Ann, our server was great, extremely nice, took time to explain the menu and their specialties. We told her my wife is gluten free so she check with their chief to insure what she ordered met that criteria. Me, on the other hand sticks to the same old items, and Mary Ann tried to convince me to order their specialty shrimp and grits, however I ordered the shrimp & crap with linguine, which was excellent. Mary Ann took it upon herself to bring me a small sample of their shrimp and grits, and WOWed me. Next time I'm ordering that, it was great and it will change your mind that grits only go with breakfast.
My wife's grilled trout was excellent, the salads were great and the crème brulee we shared was tasty. This is a great place to eat, and they are very busy, so I'd recommend calling first, we just got lucky.
We plan on going back, and I gave them 5 stars for great service, food, a very clean establishment.
