| - Came here with friends after having dinner at Gangnam Korean BBQ across town. We were full from our meal and we even had dessert already, but my friend said that she had been wanting to try out Cafe Darak. So we all decided to try it out!
ATMOSPHERE
First impression... "Oh, cute cafe. Interesting chairs, lots of people... OHH! VAN GRASSY TENT THING! Must. Sit. IN IT." We came around 9pm, and the seats and chairs were all about taken. That was a good sign! We grabbed a white bench, coffee table and a large leather chair. The cafe has about 8-10 different little seating areas for different size groups and preferences. It felt Alice in Wonderland meets Korean cafes feels. Very fun =)
FOOD
Everything I got was in recommendation of the owner, Sean. I told him it was my first time so he helped me pick out their best-sellers.
1. WATERMELONADE was fresh, you could tell they used real watermelons in it (unlike the PINK LYCHEE that my friend got)
2. NO MORE HANGOVER TEA was a little on the sweet-side, but the persimmons in the tea was delicious hot.
3. The COFFEE MACARON was amazing. Very different from the other macarons, I have no idea why. While this one was perfectly moist and crunchy and had strong delicious vanilla-esque coffee flavor, the rest of the macarons (RED VELVET, STRAWBERRY & ALMOND) were dry on the inside and brittle on the outside. The red velvet macaron had a good cheesecake filling to it, so hopefully they find a way to perfectly bake that one, because it could be great too.
Our drinks and food came on a cute little tray with plants and wind-up toys. No idea what they were for, but they were fun to talk about! My bill came to $16.
SERVICE
Very attentive for a cafe. They made sure we were comfortable and were having a good time. The owner Sean gave us much better service and attentiveness than most restaurants that I've been to. The girl working was also quick in clearing off tables so that other parties of people could enjoy theirselves in their own little corners. I had a great time, and I would definitely say that I'd be back.
