| - OMG! The place is awesome. I found out about this from a date. He made the mistake of telling me where we were going after dinner and as soon as he told me, I checked the website only to find out it was in my area. Of course I just had to stop by and then pretend it was my first time in there when we went out later. Their baked cheesecake is HANDS DOWN the BEST I have had here in Toronto, OMG. You need to try it. It's not too sweet and is a bit fluffy, yumm! I also love the brioche which is a hard cookie on the outside and a soft bread on the inside, delish! I am totally in love with their new brioche variety- the honey bree, O-M-G!! I heat these up to enjoy with a glass of warm evaporated milk. What? Don't judge me! **rolls eyes** lol.
Their macarons are a bit too sweet but I commend their diverse flavour marriages. They even have a daily mystery macaron, pretty cool! Lavender is my weakness so I was pleased to see that they had lavender macarons. I have enjoyed the lavender, pistachio, salted caramel etc. I even enjoyed their bacon chocolate which really tasted like bacon lol. This place fearlessly and successfully experiments with different flavours, the mark of a true chef.... and my next comment will sound a bit contradictory- I did not enjoy the quiches. I found them a bit dry and bland.
Overall, this place is a little gem in the city that is highly recommended. You owe it to yourself to check it out but you may want to call ahead because they run out of items very quickly. They tend to offer only 3-4 of each pastry per day. The macarons on the other hand are abundant.
It is worth mentioning that both locations have different chefs and even though they offer the same items, they do put their own spin on it. For example, the honey bree brioche that I am raving about above is from the Avenue location which is sweeter, softer and has a honey filling inside. The one on Manor is completely different and has no filling inside and quite frankly, I don't even taste the honey in theirs.
