| - On a recent vacation to Toronto, my boyfriend and I stayed one night here. I wish we had been able to stay longer; both because we loved the city (and didn't get to see nearly enough of it) and because the hotel could not have been nice or more accommodating! As a Hilton Honors member, I have stayed in many of their hotels- usually picking Doubletree because who doesn't love free cookies!- but this was BY FAR the best one I ever stayed.
We arrived after a 9 hour drive, just a little before check in. They had our room ready (was one below the room we were confirmed for, but no big deal as it was the exact same room) and, after we got our cookies, we headed up. From some of the reviews you would think we were staying in a dirty cardboard box- I don't get it because our room was standard in size with a modern feel and it was very clean. The king bed was very comfortable and we felt that it was a great room, especially for it's location. We had a small fridge, nice closet and a decent coffee set up.
During our stay, we used the gym, which was small but nice and the pool which was a little cool but better than when an indoor pool is scorching hot. Both facilities were clean and the bathrooms were equipped with showers, towels and a sauna. We found both to be a nice addition to the hotel.
On our second day, we were given a late check out and they allowed us to stay parked until we needed to leave for the second leg of our trip, which wouldn't be until after dinnertime. This really made us feel that we got our money worth for the price paid to park. Especially since anywhere in the city will cost to park. Even if these perks were due to being an Honors member, it was the way in which they were willing to go above and beyond that sets them apart. The cherry on the pie was when we were waiting to get a cab because it was pouring rain and they offered us umbrellas to use for the day! Since we only needed to walk a mile (which would have been terrible in a downpour) they saved us money with that gesture.
We arrived back to return our umbrellas and leave to say good-bye. They sent us on our way with two more cookies, two more bottles of water and some fruit.
We felt they really appreciated our business and we definitely appreciated them. The next time we go to Toronto, we see no reason to stay anywhere else.
Note- I will agree with others- parking is tough. Spaces are super small and lot is hard to navigate. I would highly recommend compact cars only! However, very small in comparison to how nice everything else is about the hotel.
