| - Drove 30 minutes to Cabelas to purchase a 92fs. After wanting it to compare it with the PX4 and a glock, I felt like the clerk was impatient from the get go. I kind of felt rushed and uncomfortable with asking questions, to make the right $600+ purchase. After I decided, the clerk went to the back and came with the box and nonchalantly said that the showmodel was the last one in store, and just continued wrapping it up and assuming the sale. I then asked if she knew when she thought they would get a new shipment. She said that she wouldn't be able to tell as their shipments are sporadic and infrequent. Then I expressed my feeling that I wasn't comfortable buying a showmodel firearm, because... Well it's a SHOW MODEL. Who knows how many people cocked, uncocked, took the magazine out, put in back in, receiver pulled back, then released. Who knows. Then she said the best she could do it throw in a box of ammo of some cheap brand she mentioned. $9.99? No thanks. She said she would ask a manager to come over if I wished to ask, I said please do. She walks over to the phone and after talking back n forth, I heard her say 'nope, theres nothing wrong, ok thanks.' Comes back and says no. I told her I'd think about it for a little longer while I'm still in the store. She said make sure it's before 9, because that's when they stop taking purchases. Of course, I understand that. At 8.55 I decided, against my gut feeling, to just go ahead and purchase it for full price. While I waited to be helped I hear her tell a customer that they can't process purchases. Well, thank goodness, I'm glad she still has the box out in case I'd come back. So while I waited, I talked to another customer AND another gun clerk, with the customers saying they wouldn't buy a showmodel 'without a percentage off' and the clerk even saying he'd NEVER buy a showmodel because 'of course not, it's been handled by everyone' and then she got back to me. Well guess what, 'I'm sorry but they're not gonna take any purchases at this time, because it takes a good 20 minutes, they want to go home too... If you'd like I can put it on lay away for you, for a max of 5 days'. Oh yeah PLEEEEEAAASE DOOO, because that's the last fs92 in the valley and you guys are the only one carrying it. I don't think so. I'll take my $600 to another gun shop who wants and WILL appreciate my business. Ha! Go to Cabela's. FOR WHAT?! People are there to spend hundreds if not thousands of hard earned cash. Treat them well and make them feel appreciated for bringing in their business. I drove 30 minutes to you, and you reneg on helping me with a shitty deal? I'm glad you didn't. Cabela's won't be seeing a single dollar from my pocket. There are plenty of other gun shops. What was I thinking to still go ahead with buying a product from someone who acts like they couldn't care less if I spent my money there or not.
-update. Went to Sportsmans warehouse and purchased a brand new one for $579. And they thanked me for my business, and I felt great. Will be, only, going there from now on.
