| - This place is a little too DIY for me. I placed my order at the counter, passing pre-prepared cups of orange juice and baskets of napkins. This should have been my one and only clue... But it was early and I was thinking with my "hangry brain. "
I ordered a latte and it was delivered to me without sugar options or stirs. So I got up to find the missing pieces to my beverage.
My Eggs Benedict was delivered to me with silverware wrapped in a napkin, thank goodness for that much. Unfortunately, I'm a two-napkin (min) eater, so I needed a few more. This waitress was sweet and offered to fetch me some.
Now I know I wrote in my tip that the latte was decent, it was in fact very good. It was so strong that six packets of sugar later, it was slightly sweet.
For a place that was loud and packed, I got my breakfast faster than expected. The kitchen is definitely doing something right. There is also outdoor seating if you don't want to sit inside the noisy mess hall.
Ncounter has this incredible opportunity to be more "green" if they chose to offer coffee mugs as well as paper cups. It's surprisingly cost-saving and since only the staff carries the dishes across the restaurant, low in risk of breakage.
Also, all of these napkins and utensil-bags could be compostable. And sugar packets switched out for sugar dispensers. Imagine if Ncounter was a zero waste/zero landfill establishment...
I only mention all of this because of the excellent job in branding this restaurant possesses. It's modern and open and clearly focused on efficiencies. There is even an Ncounter-branded bike locked up outside. All of this points to an earth-conscious brand, so I was a little disappointed to see the flagrant wastefulness inside.
Overall, I might be back for the Eggs Benedict.
