  • Paris Rendez-Vous is a refreshing little bakery/gelato shop with a diverse amount of french offerings. It's fun to have this in Phoenix... and get this, the owners are indeed French. Why go there: We've been there on several occasions now, our first time there we began our dialogue with the owners in English, and as I picked up the accent and even mannerism, we spoke French the rest of the time, and then on ever since. Let me tell you this, it made me feel like I was back in France at a true boulangerie, from the smell of the baked goods alone. The owners are warm and welcoming. Their croissants and baked goods are made there, they are fresh and done very well. Their croissants actually taste like a croissant, a flaky buttery goodie to go with your coffee. The gelato is also good, though not made there (no reason to), they have enough variety to steer you away from the near by Coldstone, and you won't feel all gross and bloated after a fresh cup of their stuff. Simply put, it's truly a French place, with French owners, who know how to deliver French goods. Don't miss: The croissant, the croque-monsieur and a fresh cup of gelato. Macarons are good too if that's your thing. Tip: The place is small, and quaint in a way in the busy, chain-doused open air mall that is Desert Ridge Marketplace. It has seating outside and some inside for maybe 12-15 guests max. But what they offer is simple enough to take to go. If you are popping by during a busy time, you might not get a seat, but there is plenty of seating available near by at Desert Ridge. Overall: We were there on a Wednesday afternoon once, and two Americans were speaking great French while enjoying some food, I guess they go there every week to sit and practice French with one another, per the owner. Thought that was pretty neat. It's good to know they have regulars. My point, this place is unique and fun to swing by, even for a quick baked good or fresh made gelato. Give it a go! Bon Ap!
