| - I was so excited to try this place out, I'd heard nothing but good things about it from friends in other cities. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed.
First off, the tables are WAY TOO close together, and some are placed in the most awkward and ridiculous spots. So we sat down, ordered an appetizer, and then got our instructions to fill our little bowl up at the bar with meats and veggies. I thought this would be a fun experience, it was not. We started with the meats, which were completely raw. I know it gets all cooked together, but just the thought of it and the fact that the raw meat is so close to the other food items just irked me out. So I put some raw chicken and raw steak bits in. They tell you at the beginning to "load it high" with veggies but it just becomes annoying as you make this little mountain of veggies that keep toppling all over the place, not to mention the glass casing makes it nearly impossible to grab veggies from the other side..ugh it was just annoying. Then we get to the sauces, which like others have said, look like all the same high fructose corn syrupy goodness. We chose our starch (I got brown rice, my friend got noodles) and went back to our table.
The bowls came out fairly quickly, yet still no appetizer. The appetizer finally showed up when we had nearly finished...I almost wanted to ask if the server could just take it back. Anyhow, the food was meh. I tried my friend's noodles and they were absolutely awful, please don't opt for those. They were flavorless and a strange consistency. I feel like I could make the same dishes at home fairly easily and much much healthier.
One last thing, when we got our bill, we noticed it had charged us the price for the "unlimited" bowls, when we'd each had just one. We asked the server about this and she said that that's the only way the bowls are charged, but pointed out a credit at the bottom where we were each credited $2 for not doing the unlimited. Seems like a strange, unnecessary way to do the billing (??). I don't think I'll be back here, if I want a healthy bowl of rice, chicken, and veggies I can just make it at home. If I want an authentic Mongolian BBQ, I'll go anywhere else.
