| - Our 11 year old lab, Jacek, required an MRI and ultimately spinal surgery. Before determining where to go we did quite of bit of homework on providers near our home in Chicago. It was at that time we stumbled on the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. While 2.5 hours away from our home in Chicago, we were very pleased with the time and consideration given even in the context of a discovery call before he was even a patient. We also felt that having access to highly skilled physicians and the best diagnostic equipment, even as compared to Chicago, mad this a no brainer, despite the distance.
I can't express how pleased we are with our decision. Aside from having specialists of the highest order in every discipline imaginable in one location, it was clear to us that beyond professional regard, everyone associated with Jacek's care had a vested interest and authentic concern for his well being. He was treated and cared for as if he was their own dog by everyone he came in contact with. I am supremely confident this played into a positive outcome and made his time there thus far enjoyable for a dog that is fairly selective about his people.
There is nothing more that we could ask for and I'd not hesitate to bring any of our cherished pets here as well as encourage others to do the same. You'll not find the pervasive combination of extreme competence, genuine care and generosity of spirit displayed at this clinic anywhere - we know because we looked.
Moreover, the value of the services and care provided far exceeded the dollars spent. This allowed us to provide, not only the best care, but to also have more flexibility to invest in further physical therapy, giving our boy the best possible outcome.
