| - This was my first room escape experience - and it pretty much lived up to my expectations, that is to say, entertaining but not particularly challenging - and far from a good value.
Entrance is $20, which I think is pretty steep for what amounts to about 45 minutes of mild fun. The escape itself (we did "End of the Line") is physically well-put together, but not especially stimulating. My group managed to finish in 38 minutes, which was good enough to best the daily and weekly records ... and as smart as I like to think we were, our finish time was more the result of simplistic challenges than uncommon intelligence.
The atmosphere is well done - it's highly evocative of a video game set (think Call of Duty Zombies), but is tainted by the very obvious screaming/sounds of collaboration from the groups in adjacent rooms. Sometimes, the darkness - which is intended to be challenging, merely ends up being irritating.
Without spoiling the fun, the challenges are principally of the "notice the particularities of your physical environment and translate them into a combination" variety ... which is initially exciting, but soon grows tiresome.
All that to say, I don't regret my experience there, but I don't see myself going back anytime soon.
