| - I was debating between 4 and 5 stars, and since I can't really think of anything that this park is missing, I decided on the higher rating.
This is a not so hidden gem in the Valley. It's basically on the border between Henderson and Las Vegas and is easily accessible from most areas of town.
I've played in softball leagues here a few times, and they were always well organized and fun. There are tons of sports fields and all are well maintained. Whether you are in to softball/baseball, soccer, volleyball, running or frisbee (disc) golf - this place has it all. It's been years since I've played frisbee golf, but I hear it's a nice course. And one of only a few in town.
There are at least 3 walking/running trails that surround the park, and since there is also a dog park, this is a great place to bring your furry friends as well.
I was here most recently for a baby shower and we set up camp at the "Hickory" picnic area. This was right by the "lake," which made it a nice spot. It was also near a large parking area, but quite a few of our guests got lost trying to find us and ended up on the other side of the park.
I was unaware that the city regularly stocks fish in the lake and there were quite a few people out with their poles. I was told that you HAVE to have a fishing license and that park rangers will confiscate your fish if you are found not to have the proper permit. Something to keep in mind.
Overall, there is something for everyone. The park is well maintained and has a great layout.
