| - Today was our first experience at the Galaxy Green Valley Luxury Theatre. The people who work there were nice and helpful, so that was not the problem. Our BIG problem with it was the sound. It was ridiculously loud during the commercials and previews. I walked down to the ticket takers and told them how loud it was, hoping they could get someone to turn it down a bit, and they told me that it would quiet down when the regular feature came on (which ended up being true). I had a pounding headache by that point, though, and my husband was plugging his ears to get through it. We almost got up and left before the movie even started, it was so bad. Their excuse was that they are required by someone (studios or sponsors) to play the commercials loudly. Why is that true there, but nowhere else in any theater I've been in? We go to the movies twice a week lately, and we've never encountered that. I didn't care much for the seat assignment procedure either. We were in our row all alone, and suddenly another couple came and sat down right next to us, saying that the theater wouldn't let them have a seat between us. Maybe I would understand that if the theater was full, but it was 1:00 in the afternoon on a Monday and the theater was maybe 1/10th full at most. The reclining seats were nice, I will give them that (though my seat had several tears in it, and my husband's drink/food tray was broken). I thought it was weird that they make the people who work there come out and lay out all the rules to everyone before the show starts (though I did appreciate the cell phone rules, etc. It just felt very weird to have a young guy come lecture us). There has to be a more professional way to present the information than that. Now that our curiosity is solved, we will not be going back to this theater. They need to do something about the sound-- it's deafening!
