| - In my years of owning and renting condos both as a tenant and a landlord, I have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to property management companies. It's a tough job with demands coming from many directions and there is always too much to do and too many phone calls to answer. I get it, I really do. But there are a few companies that do a really really great job.
Larlyn is not one of them. They are extremely unresponsive and always losing paperwork. They say they will do something, and it takes months longer than it should. Their business is being done not just in Calgary but also in multiple offices spread across Canada, so it is difficult to find the correct person to talk to - and if you ever manage to, they seem to have little incentive to help you.
I could write pages on where they have gone wrong. Most recently, we sold our condo. We have sold condos before and it's usually a straightforward process. Larlyn couldn't figure out how to stop charging us our monthly condo fees and transfer the payments to the new owner. They couldn't figure out how to refund what had already been overpaid until we got a lawyer involved. It took 3 months for them to return our deposits (which we had given them for our renters), because they couldn't figure out which office was supposed to issue the check. Fail.
There are a few shining lights at Laralyn, and I feel bad that they have to work with so many incompetent, lazy people. We got our money back, but I will never get back the countless hours I spent on the phone and in their offices.
