| - I think I just found a legit, good Mexican cuisine restaurant in Vegas!
I first discovered this place when I was invited with my girlfriends family about a month ago April 2015. Once walking in, the thought ran into my head, "this isn't going to be good." Call me picky, or whatever but Mexican cuisine restaurants in Vegas mostly miss the mark and taste bland. Sometimes I think they do it because it's easy, beans, rice and a burrito. Really?
I was recommend to try the chile relleno, something I wouldn't order normally, not because I don't like it more like there's other stuff that I like more. So took my girlfriends sisters recommendation and also heard it wasn't at all super spicy, and ordered the dish. My girlfriend (who cooks probably the best chicken enchiladas ever!) tried just that, chicken enchiladas with red sauce. She also tried something she normally wouldn't, and raved about how good it was. Had a taste, and indeed it was delicious. Nice balance of spice, not overpowering and the chicken was full of flavor. The rice, beans were also a nice addition since they somehow get it wrong at other restaurants.
Verdict, pretty good. The food tasted quite delicious and felt homemade. The chips with salsa aren't out of this world, but come on you have to have chips/salsa before your meal. I also added on the guacamole and if your sharing with say your friend or significant other, it'll do. It's good, not great, just nothing to complain.
The service was excellent. For a party of 9, they refilled our drinks took our order properly and had a professional demeanor.
Overall I liked it and was eager to revisit.
So we did! Three weeks later.
Let me just say our second visit just the two of us was just as good, and might I say better! I didn't know they had Puerco Pibil! I got so excited since it's probably the most complex dish I ever created on my own, in my twenties, and was wondering how good would it taste.
People of Yelp, please try this dish! It's AMAZING!
Just the right amount of citrus and spice (not overly spicy) served with tortillas, rice and black beans! So so so so so good. Damn my stomach is rumbling.
This place will hopefully continue to surprise me as I try something different with every future visit.
The ambiance is perfect. You feel like your in someone kitchen, and they are whipping up some amazing Mexican food.
I give it 4 out of 5, just because I haven't tried most of the menu but it's promising enough to earn my business.
