| - While visiting Charlotte, NC for the Olympia Strongman competition, we stayed at the Microtel Inn & Suites. Prior to our stay I was not aware of the specific room set up and design which is considered "Microtel". For those of you who do not know, a "Microtel" room style has the minimal space and amenities a guest would need when staying in a hotel for a short period of time. This is characterized by only containing a bed, small side tables, small dresser, mini refrigerator - microwave combo unit, a built in seating area in the window, and the television is located inside of the closet. The bathroom within the hotel has more space to move around than the hotel room itself. This set up works perfectly for individuals just passing through or stopping for a single night; however, it may not be the best setup for a family or indicia looking to stay for an extended period of time (ie. vacations, honeymoons, etc.). The room was very 1980's styled in decor and building materials. Despite the out of date appearance, all provided items (towels, wash clothes, bed sheets, etc.) were clean. The parking is quite tight as the Microtel is located behind a fast food restaurant and next to an off road from a major roadway. The staff was friendly and polite!
