I had been tourturing myself by following Muddy Waters on Instagram...beautiful photos of plates of raw oysters on the half shell...and I couldn't wait to go for my birthday!
We went for happy hour. I thought the place would be packed on a Friday but it wasn't. The front of the restaurant is open and airy. We were seated in a high back booth in the back of the restaurant. Corrugated metal on the wall.
Oysters were delicious but we forgot to ask for horseradish...it comes with lemon and some type of red oil. Ordered both east and west coast oysters to try...all delicious. Minimum order is 12 oysters.
Fried catfish was very thin and breaded with cornmeal so very dry...I didn't like it.
Hush puppies were good...warm and soft.
Chargrilled oysters were too salty and greasy for my taste...they had parm cheese on top. I'll stick to the raw oysters.
Fried green tomatoes were bland. They came with a really good vinegar cole slaw.
Weren't going to get dessert but so glad we did! Beignets and ice cream. Fluffy puffs of deliciousness.
Happy hour drinks: I got a boilermaker. Shot was Clyde Mays. Good and strong bourbon. Other drink specials are pickle back with a shot of liquor and a shot of pickle juice. There was a cocktail but our waiter didn't tell us what it was and I didn't have a chance to ask him.
There were some dishes we liked and dishes we didn't like but overall it was good food in a fun atmosphere and we will return.
