Went to Japan this year and I have been trying to recreate all sorts of dishes. I visit Jtown 3 times a month to stock up on supplies and I never knew this little shop existed. It's tucked away near the sushi department. I honestly don't want to share the location because something this tasty will result in line ups but this is truly the best daifuku in town since our trip to Japan. Get the matcha and houchija to start and welcome to the world of soft creamy sweet deliciousness. $2.50 for a fresh daifuku is well priced. On the sweeter side were the red bean, chestnut and matcha. The houchija and coffee weren't as sweet and well balanced. Try one and you make the call. I always found the daifuku inside the grocery store a bit too sweet and dense but the fresh daifuku has that cream center that makes it less sweet. Oh, did I mention Sasaki makes Totoro cookies!
