| - I dropped a friend off at Comic-Con and was feeling like exploring a bit while rush hour traffic died down. I decided to check out Jobot after seeing it was in the art district just a couple miles away.
(Parking can be found either in a 2-hour garage behind the building or on the street also behind)
So first up...
Drinks: *****
Jobot has a decently sized menu with numerous choices for coffee, tea, and alcohol lovers alike. Most of the drinks can be made hot or cold. A lot of reviews here weren't fans of the chai latte so I opted for a cold brew. And man let me tell you about this cold brew. It's smooth yet full of flavor and body. I put a little honey in it which only made it better in my opinion. 5/5 would drink again.
Food: -
I only spent a little time here so I didn't get a chance to try the food unfortunately.
Atmosphere: ****
Rustic. Borderline hipster. Actually, no its definitely hipster. But that's a good thing. It gives it a cool laid back image. The lighting is warm and ambient, not bright or in-your-face. The music fit the image of this place albeit almost at bar-level volume. It's loud for a coffee shop let's say that. So if you're coming here to study or work, I'd recommend some headphones.
Smoking is allowed on the patio but that's not an issue for me, however if it is for you, you may want to hang out inside.
Service: **
This is kinda where it fell below expectations for me. I walked in, no greeting. Not a big deal; I'm not expecting a red carpet for me when I come in. But it was more so the fact that I had to initiate conversation at the register. Even the dumpiest fast-food joint will at least have an unenthusiastic cashier asking me what I want first. Here it was just kinda stares until I asked what was the most popular.
The barista/bartender making my drink definitely looked like they'd rather be anywhere but here. I get it. Food service isn't great, but I at least try to not look miserable when I'm working with customers.
I can't speak for any of the other employees here as I only had my experience with the one.
Overall: ****
Jobot's cold brew is exceptional along with a nice inclusive menu for different drink lovers. The interior is messy, artistic, and attractive giving it a warm industrial feeling. I just wish the same could be said about the service. Regardless, I'd still probably bring a friend back to try it at least more time.
