I thought I reviewed this during my Trip to AZ but I guess the mall was so forgettable that I really... forgot.
It makes me sad to see a property barely used like this. This mall was within walking distance from the hotel we were staying at and I wasn't prepared for it at all.
I'd never seen a property so empty and ghostly. At least 2/3rds of the mall were empty units. It was kinda eerie, like being in a zombie movie and taking refuge in an abandoned mall.
We still walked through the entire thing to find those single open stores in the outlying wings. The most useful store we found was Spencer's gifts and we were able to get a few trinkets to take back home.
We didn't see the Wal-Mart. I think it never opened but the sign was still there? In any case the whole mall was an accurate representation of the state of the area. Our hotel concierge discouraged us from exploring at night, and during the daytime on our way to the GCU campus, everything surrounding it really seemed run down and barely in business :/.
Something needs to happen to this area to bring it back to life.
