Right in the heart of Chinatown is this place, which focuses on taking the Chinese bakery to the next level. What drew us to this place was their playful take on the bao, which made the kids go nuts.
The bakers here shape their steamed baos into cute animal shapes and have more modern takes like green tea and red bean shaped like a little frog face. There is substance behind the style however as the buns looked as good as they tasted. The green tea dough was infused with just the right amount of powder which made it fragrant and not overpowering. The red bean filling was excellent and the baos were steamed to perfection. Portions are large so don't get greedy. A must if you're in the area and you love baos.
