  • I have a home warranty and Proserv is on of the vendors they use. They came out on June 12 for an air conditioning failure in my home. The tech was outside and I told him the large unit was for upstairs and he said no. I thought I should know because I've been living in the house for 15 years. After 45 minutes he came in and I was right, he had been working on the wrong unit. He told me It needed a new compressor and he would report back to the home warranty people. I called proserv 4 days later and they still hadn't called my home warranty for approval to order the part. It's 117 in the desert this week. The part finally came 2 weeks after the service call. They charged me an extra $90 for coolant disposal and $60 to dispose of a part which I later found in my trash can. He installed the part. 2 weeks later the air was experiencing the same problem (blowing hot air). I requested that the same tech not come out because I felt he wasn't knowledgeable. The same guy came back 4 days later. He told me my unit had frozen now keep in mind its 117 outside. He went in the attic which is where our furnace is and took a picture with his phone and told me the builder did something wrong. I said that's impossible because it's been working for 15 years. He installed a part outside without checking inside the attic and froze the unit. He panicked and took off the part and left. I called Proserv and asked why she sent the same tech and she said he's new to a/c but anyone else she has is even newer. I called my home warranty and requested someone else. Through this all I was thinking that Proserv sounded familiar and then I remembered that they had gone to one of my rental properties to fix a dryer and had to go back 3x. It never did get fixed by Proserv, I called someone else. Working with home warranty companies sometime you don't have a choice but if you do, steer clear away from Proserv!
