I am not one to write reviews on doctors and Vets but my experience this past month has prompted me to as I would not want anyone (and their cat) to go through what I and my cat endured! I will give you a brief synopsis. My always healthy, hand raised from three days old cat suddenly became quite ill. He was throwing up his food and I noticed several failed attempts to use the litter box. As male cats are more prone to urinary blockage I knew I had better get him to a Vet ASAP! There is a "clinic" for all animals inside a pet store that shall remain nameless and I was able to get an appointment that day. The last clinic I took my cat to do not even like cats so I sure did not want to go there. The Vet was nice and told me that she would need to x-ray my cat! She told me my cat was constipated and needed to take Miralax. The next day found my kitty not eating or using the litter box so back to the same Vet I went. This time she gave my cat an enema and sent me home with a pamphlet on MEGACOLON! She was going out of town so she said that the other Vet would answer any questions that I might have and be sure to make a future appointment to discuss keeping my cat on Laxatives for the rest of his life. The next day is Thanksgiving and my cat was still not eating or using the litter box. He was becoming dehydrated and unresponsive so I called the same clinic early Friday morning and was told there was nothing more they could do for my cat! I had spent around five hundred dollars "and there was nothing they could do". I called my sister in a panic and she said that she had seen a cat clinic just south of Miller off of Indian School. When I gave them a call and told them how serious my cat's situation was they told me to bring him in right away.
Had I landed in OZ.......What a difference! When I opened the door to the clinic I was greeted by the very friendly house cat that has the run of the office. There is a very warm reception area and in back of the reception area was all things cats form great quality food to kitty toothpaste! The approach to my cat was so much better as they let him come out on his own and explore the room. They took his temputrue in his ear rather than his sore behind like the other clinic did. Then Dr Bellapianta checked my cat from head to toe and determined that the problem was an anal sac infection. This was done without the help of an X-ray because the other clinic would not send them. She also discovered that my cat had an ear infection. When all was said and done my cat went home with all the meds he would need and also some quality food that he actually liked. That very night my cat ate and used the litter box and a week later you would never know that he had been sick. And, no, he does not have MEGACOLON! This will be the only clinic that my cat will go to and Dr Bellapianta is my vet of choice for all my cats. This is a wonderful place to take your cat as there will be no dogs to frighten them and the Vets specialize in cats. This place rocks!!!!
