  • Yep, they don't care about their customers. This review is about Auto Nation Superstition Springs Chevy and GM. I thought after purchasing a new Tahoe for $50,000, a supposedly reputable American Made company like GM would stand behind their product. I thought the GM Dealer AutoNation would also. I was wrong. I first noticed my dash was cracked by the passenger air bag while still under warranty. It never dawned on me to take it in for a warranty replacement, since I figured maybe my wife put her feet up on it and cracked it. Well, years later, my Chevy Tahoe is out of warranty and there is now another 8 inch long crack above the instrument cluster. So I showed this to my local GM Dealer Auto Nation Superstition Springs in Mesa, AZ and both the service manager and service advisor said this is a common issue on nearly all Tahoe, Avalanche, Yukon and Chevy Trucks with the same dash. But GM hasn't issued a recall yet. And I'm out of warranty. They quoted me $1100. The Service Manager at Auto Nation Superstition Springs Chevrolet said that it is out of his control and that I have to call GM Customer Assistance. After multiple calls to GM Customer Assistance, their offer is now for me to pay $400-$500 and they'll 'pick up the rest'. I was offended. Brian the Team Lead in the Customer Assistance department of GM in their Central Texas Office arrogantly stated that he is the highest customer service / customer facing person at GM. I asked several times to speak to his boss and he emphatically denied, stating there was no one higher up for me to talk to. He was it. He was the sole person in charge of deciding to try to screw me, the customer, for $400. And according to Brian, he simply reviews what the dealer suggests as a resolution and if it seems appropriate, they (GM) stand firm with the DEALER's decision. The classic runaround. Well Brian Team Lead at GM - I will never purchase another GM product - EVER. And same goes for you AutoNation. I don't understand. GM KNOWS this is a widespread issue. So much so, that the Service Advisor (who has only worked at Auto Nation Superstition Springs in Mesa, AZ for about one month) said he sees this 'all the time'. The Service Manager at Auto Nation said the same thing. In fact, before he left his office to look at my Tahoe, he drew a picture on scrap paper showing me where they always crack. He showed several spots, mine is only in 2 spots for now. Even the GM Customer Assistance people acknowledge it is a rampant issue, but they are quick to add 'this is not a safety concern and there is no recall for this issue'. How is this not a safety issue?? Does someone have to get in an accident and have a shard of plastic dash embedded into their loved one's eye socket (which may have happened already, but just not been investigated for this GM defect)? There are thousands of cases reported on hundreds of forums online. Here is one person's blog: http://tahoe-cracked-dash.webs.com. Go ahead, google 'Tahoe cracked dash'. As of today one forum (and there are many others) has over 100 pages with over 1,000 posts regarding this issue. C'mon GM, taxpayers bailed you out of bankruptcy (not that we wanted to) a few years back and this is how you are going to treat your customers? Your tactic of denying responsibility for product design failure is unethical and irresponsible. Shame on you GM. Congratulations, you win! You don't ever have to sell me another vehicle.
