| - Yeah buddy, this place is the ish! It completely destroys one's understanding of the flavor and experience of good coffee. If this place were an episode of "Cribs", it would tell you to get ready for a big gulp of haterade because Rising Star has has it all and it's everything you wish you could be in life. But at this crib, none of the swag is out of reach--just stop in and get the best cup of joe in your life for only a few bucks.
I don't really even drink that much coffee, but I kept hearing about the coffee geek paradise that is Rising Star. I finally gave in and checked it out. When you first walk in, you don't see a coffee shop full of couches and the smooth sounds of easy listening music (wow do I hate that music). You see a small customer area, a lot of roasting equipment, huge bags of beans, and some brewing equipment that might have been pulled from a chemistry set. It seems a little intimidating to a guy like me who really only knows the basics of coffee. But fear not, everyone is super nice, they explain everything, and they are more than happy to remove the intimidation factor. It's fun and it tastes good!
I got a black cup of dark roast and it was one of the best I've had in a while. It also wasn't any more expensive than a cup a Starbucks. My only complaint is that the store does't have a seating area. Get your coffee and move on, or stand and drink while you B.S. with the employees. I would love to hit this place up for a work-day, but for now I'm happy just grabbing a cup on my way to the daily commute. This place kind of made me excited about coffee.
