  • If you are looking for an organization to volunteer with then definitely consider Santropol Roulant. They are seriously awesome and do lots of great work for the community. Their main focus is a meals on wheels program but that is only a small part of what makes them a wonderful organization. They also organize a variety of activities such as community workshops The meals that they prepare for the Meals on Wheels program are nutritious, and they grow a lot of the produce themselves at their farm in Senneville and at their gardens located at their headquarters and on McGill campus. In addition to that they have a lot of sustainable practices. They compost fruit and vegetable waste from the kitchens to use for their agriculture program. When they deliver the meals they also do their best to use environmentally friendly methods of transportation such as bikes or public transit. They only really use cars for meal deliveries when they're going to areas of the city that are far from their headquarters. If you are looking to volunteer then there are a variety of ways to give your time. You can work in the kitchens, doing deliveries, in the gardens and much more. They also offer the added benefit of flexible scheduling. You can schedule as many or as few shifts as your schedule permits. Volunteering here is a great way to support this fantastic organization.
