I noticed not a lot of people talked about the macarons -- probably because they are exobitantly expensive at $2.75 each. I was super in the mood for some macarons so I bought 6 different ones, and a chocolate cheesecake.
To be blunt, the macarons are not worth it. All of them were clearly made from over mixed batter because they were very chewy. Good feet, and a smooth skin on the biscuit though which made the macarons look deceptively delicious. Once you get past the chewiness, the flavouring is most likely fake. Some of the macarons have better fake flavouring than others. The pistachio one was pretty bad -- also the inside was a very unatural neon green. :( I would also definitely stay away from the salted caramel macaron who's filling has the sweatiness of a store-bought caramel (plus some table salt added in). The black sesame was the least disappointing, with a good (possibly real) sesame filling -- still chewy.
I would give Capricco 2 stars if I hadn't tried their chocolate cheesecake (which was delicious and super chocolatey). I also got a few sips of my friend's red velvet latte which has a convincing red velvet flavour. * thumbs up*
So in all, I wouldn't want to deter anyone away from trying Capricco, but your experience depends on what you get. And if you aren't in the mood for the cheesecakes which seem to get good reviews, they also stock La Rocca cakes which are also sold at most conventional Loblaw banners.
