| - i thought i'd give this place a shot, even with the "meh" Yelp reviews. I like to be the Yelper that proves everyone else wrong! or something like that. went at the end of the lunch rush.... and no one was at the hostess station. so i stood there for a good few minutes before being noticed and seated.
since i was planning on ordering spring rolls, i stopped by the restroom to wash my hands .... and was DISGUSTED at the squalor. yes, i just said squalor. it was that bad. filthy.
i had the nem nuong cuon (grilled pork sausage spring roll). it was decent, but definitely not the best i've ever had.
i was all excited to try the bun (vermicelli noodles), because the waitress told me a i could get 1/2 chicken and 1/2 beef.... the meat was oily, sparse, and..... just lackluster, which is strange because all of the ingredients were there.... it just fell so short of the mark.
i then proceeded to wait for 10-15 minutes for my bill. well for anyone to come pick up my empty dishes and bring my bill. AND... does this bother anyone else but me? they give you the bill in an AmEx folder thing that says "we take AmEx" and then... they tell you they don't take it. anyways, i had to wait another few minutes to have my card picked up so i could pay and get out of there.
were there warning signs? yes, and i should have listened. such as the overall Yelp reviews were pretty bad. there were pretty much NO other Asians in the restaurant - it was filled with middle-aged businessy white-folk. And the decor was trying too hard to be upscale. sigh, so disappointing. too bad.
