I don't have an extensive enough vocabulary to describe how much I fell madly in love with the bar. I guess in the shadow of all the fancy pants places on The Strip, this would be considered a dive bar but it's more of your suburban cousin who listens to rap music and acts like they can relate. But that's not a fault. I think it's a nice middle ground.
I can only speak for their craft beer menu as cocktails are not really my bag. They have a very decent selection of local brews on tap which I love because when I travel I want a taste of regional flavors. The staff is so nice and helpful. If you sit on the patio, they have a waitress come and take your orders so your lazy ass can drink uninterrupted. Prices are really decent also. Again, giving you more opportunity to drink more. And the music is just yaaaassss!
Being from out of town I notice the common theme is the fear that hipsters and yuppies will take over downtown Las Vegas. I'm very familiar with the phenomena having lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles which are ghosts of their former selves. I do hope Atomic Bar can be a model to people that gentrification does not have to be shitty if done better than in other cities. I would have no problem having this as my neighborhood spot.
In the end, if you are a local or a tourist, leave Las Vegas Blvd and the casinos and take a gamble on this place. You will win!
