  • I love living in Sharpsburg, but one downside is the current lack of quality food options that consist of anything other than pizza. Thanks to Dragon Palace, this is beginning to change. Having delicious and reasonably priced Chinese food (with authentic options!) just a short walk from home is exactly what the neighborhood needed. I've been anticipating the opening ever since the "coming soon" sign was posted outside some weeks ago, so I made it a point to try the restaurant on their opening night. My wife and I walked down and decided to dine inside. The dining room was very clean and welcoming. My wife and I sat down, ordered some hot tea and began looking over the menu. The food options were exactly what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant, but I was really surprised to see that they included a section of authentic dishes to supplement the standard Americanized fare. I chose to dive into the authentic menu and ordered the Dan Dan Noodles with Minced Pork along with the Diced Chicken with Dried Pepper (served with a side of white rice). The Dan Dan Noodles were very delicious, but the Diced Chicken with Dried Pepper was a big standout for me. If you like spicy food, definitely give this a try. The chicken is nicely breaded and fried to the perfect crispness, and the dried peppers give this the perfect punch of spice. My wife ordered an Egg Roll and the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce (served with a side of white rice). She tells me that the Eggplant was very good, but the Egg Roll was one of the best she's ever eaten. We also shared an order of Steamed Dumplings, which is one of my favorite dishes whenever I eat Chinese. The Steamed Dumplings at Dragon Palace are very, very good. I could see myself having a craving for these and popping in for a quick order as a snack from time to time. They're that good! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Being that this was opening night, things got a little busy and service was a little slower than you would expect, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since there was a constant stream of takeout orders coming in and out of the doors in the time that we were there enjoying our meal. Obviously this speaks to the people of Sharpsburg being excited for a new neighborhood food option that is something other than pizza. I hope that this excitement continues and that Dragon Palace does well in it's new home. I also hope that the success of Dragon Palace sparks other restaurants to take a shot on Sharpsburg. Until then, I'm already thinking about the next time I'm going to eat those dumplings!!
