| - Flashback 80's Friday!
Date night with the hubby last night. Purchased the Black Friday Groupon deal yesterday morning and watched the show in the evening at the Venetian. Redeemed the voucher at the box office with no hassle and the seats were not bad at Section 1 Row Q.
Enjoyed the music as I loved the 80's era. Tried to remember the artists and songs as much as I could: Foreigner, Pat Benatar, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Quiet Riot, Journey, Starship, Van Halen, Poison, Ratt, etc. My husband, who is a musician, enjoyed the background musicians, especially the drummer! He also mentioned to me that the story line about the demolition of 'The Bourbon Room' had some truth to it (names were probably changed for rights purposes, not sure). In November 1984, voters in West Hollywood passed a proposal on the ballot to incorporate and the Sunset Strip area became an independent city. Snippets of the songs were played and sang. When Journey songs were played and came part of the electric guitar I knew it was Lincoln Brewster behind that instrument as he was the Lead guitar player for the band back then. Lincoln, now, is the praise and worship leader at Bayside Church in Roseville/Granite Bay CA.
The cast was great! Definitely for mature audience (saw some kids in our show last night). Plenty of explicit sexual innuendos, foul language, and the near nothing costumes. The show tickets comes with a shot of free bourbon. Enjoy and claim it at the Bourbon Room at the Venetian. Although, the show was great I will not pay $134 just to sit amongst the first three rows from the stage (and that's the Groupon rate). Too much view of asses in the front... also, this was a one-time see for me. I watched 'The Jersey Boys' 4 times (twice at the Venetian). Just my two-cents...
