| - I went in to this office largely prompted by their television advertising. I specifically made the appointment for a cleaning. When I arrived, with my completed paperwork in hand I was introduced to an X-ray tech who took a series of x-rays. Fine, I thought, I don't need this for a cleaning, but will pay for them if I must. Then I was led to an exam room. After 15 minutes the dentist came out to introduce himself and look at the x-rays. He found a small cavity. He then left and I was told that a hygienist would come in for a periodontal charting. I hate these as they are, to my mind, the basis of the biggest scams in dentistry. Sure enough, she found I would need extensive treatment and I was then led to an office to discuss that. Before I sat down, I asked when I was going to get my cleaning. The admin told me she could see when an appointment could be scheduled for that. It was now clear, I was not going to get my teeth cleaned. I asked what I owed, happily the examinations were free, and left. I don't care how nice you are or what freebies you choose to throw in, when I want my teeth cleaned that is what I expect to get - not a dog and pony show intended to lead me into thousand dollar treatments.
