We hired Holtzman back in Jan of 2015 and the project was just completed this month; 18 months after signing paperwork. Obviously, our biggest complaint is in the timing of the project, the delays, the excuses and the difficulty in getting anything completed. To their credit, Rick does a beautiful design and I actually liked all the people associated with Holtzman Construction.
Number one; you have to be there! If you aren't, things don't get done and you don't always get what the design specified or what you wanted. If you aren't there Brandon makes decisions for you that aren't on the plan. That's why I don't have a foot step in the shower and I don't have a chandelier in the closet and I don't have a locked jewelry drawer; all things promised originally. I do not like the way the tile shelves were finished. It was not as depicted on the plan; but now too late to change. The painter quit before we could find out what color stain was used on the master door. Etc.
Also, their accounting method is a nightmare. You need to keep your own, meticulous notes and receipts because I promise you, you will never be able to understand what theirs means.
Overall, I would say that we are pretty happy with the final result. It's unfortunate that ultimately we had to hire someone to finish the tile work; which Holtzman admitted to some being flawed. But after spending that much money and that much time, it just took a lot of the enjoyment out of the whole experience.
