| - Arrived at around 1pm on a Saturday and almost of the desserts were already gone! Literally saw the person in front of me take the last opera cake lol. Clearly I've underestimated the popularity or hype of this place even though it's been so long since it first opened.
Ordered for take-out the matcha daifuku and cookie puff, which were pretty much my only choices. I am a huge fan of the matcha flavour, but to be honest I didn't really find anything super special about these pastries. They weren't bad at all, just not mind-blowing. Just the right sweetness, a delicate texture, and a good balance of filling to shell. However, I thought the custard cream was a bit too...runny?, and the taste of the green tea was not as strong as I usually like. With the price point I would probably not come back for these... Could be that the food I had are not their best specialities though (damn that opera cake). On another note, everything looked beautiful down to the packaging, so these could make great gifts for anyone who likes Japanese treats.
Also, it could just have been an off day, but the first thing I noticed when I stepped into the store was how HOT it was. Hopefully they crank up the A/C soon.
