We were visiting Phoenix over the Christmas/New Year's holiday, along with our dog Maddie that was being treated for a mast cell tumor. On New Year's eve, her cancer flared up and we took her to the ER to see if anything could be done. We received stronger pain killers but came to the realization with the doctor that wasn't anything else that could be done, considering she was already receiving treatment from our oncologist back home. We had to return shortly after midnight (literally hours after the new year) after her condition worsened significantly. It was terrifying to realize that her time had come, and that it was going to be in a strange vets' office with staff none of us were familiar with. I had been planning for this inevitable moment, but had hoped to find a Dr that would do in-home euthanasia. Because of the holiday, we either couldn't get an answer or got reluctant responses from businesses in the Phoenix area that falsely advertised this service on their websites at 24/7.
At no point did any of the staff make us feel unwelcome (considering it was a holiday, I had concerns that the staff present might not be the happiest people to be there). I questioned the Dr's experience conducting euthanasia and she was completely understanding and patient with all my questions. The procedure happened without any complications and the staff was gracious and understanding of the situation.
I'm forever grateful to the Drs and staff at this clinic for taking care of my girl and handling the situation with the amount of dignity and respect that it deserves.
