I give the Cultural Trust 2 stars: one because the event itself was fabulous and another because their ploy to get your money for parking is so clever. I attended a play at the August Wilson Center on 3/4/2017. The venue was lovely and our seats on the balcony were excellent. I ordered tickets online and received them in the mail promptly. When ordering online you have the option to pay for parking upfront at the Theater Square garage. I thought that was great. They don't let you know that this garage is at least four and a half blocks away. Another member of my party was mislead in the same way. It sounded like valet parking. Since the garage location isn't disclosed, one may not allow the extra time needed to return to the AW Center. The offer is great for the other venues of the Cultural Trust, but not at the AW Center. I perceive this as a shameless way to just take more of your money. Why else would they hide the fact that the parking is inconvenient? I managed the walk back to the theatre 5 minutes before the start of the play, but people with difficulty walking, or cardiac or pulmonary issues or high heels or unfamiliarity with downtown Pgh would not. Come on Cultural Trust, the tickets and associated fees are enough, don't squeeze another $12 out of the patrons for inconvenient parking. Why not spring for a parking garage or make an arrangement with the Convention Center a mere two and a half blocks away, for pre-paid parking. Why not provide valet parking to the garage? If the AW Center is not doing well financially, maybe it is because people don't want to park so far away and race back to get to their seat.
