  • It's not my ultimate fave venue in the city, but with the addition of Sugar Beach across the street, I have a new affection for shows here. Some friends and I went to see The Specials this week and the show was amazing. Easy to get a drink, but I wish they had more selection of things other than beer. Mixed drinks are watered down and completely not worth the money. Sound was fantastic and the place was just big enough to get a crowd going crazy without being bashed or hit or smashed into. Bouncers are always power tripping at every club I go to, and here was no exception. We got a drink and then went to go look at shirts. Three guys pounced on us and began yelling. Ok, buddy... SORRY! We weren't really aware that we couldn't take our drinks out there, but a simple "You can't drink out there" would have sufficed. After sweating our asses off dancing to an amazing ska show, we went across to Sugar beach and cooled off by the lake, which awesome before moving on to the next bar. Actually a 3.5. I'd be happy if the next band I really wanted to see was playing here.
