  • This is a restaurant that benefited very much from second impressions. I first went to Honey Salt for restaurant week and was pretty significantly disappointed. At the end of the day the food was just okay, nothing special, and no matter how awesome the honey salt butter actually was, delicious butter can only go so far. Although hot damn the butter went pretty far. If I had made a review on the restaurant week menu it would be 3 stars at best. And yet, I was coerced into coming back. Reviews are just generally very positive so I wanted to give it another shot and ultimately that was a very good decision. I've been back two times once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner: Squash Blossoms- an interesting appetizer certainly, basically fried squash and cheese but fairly tasty I will say that. Salmon- honestly it was a great salmon dish. A lot of vegetables, salmon cooked very well, pesto all over. Overall a very satisfying dish. Peach Cobbler- the big seller here is the seasonal dessert. The opportunity to have desserts that change with the seasons is very fun and worth coming back for. The Cobbler was really amazing too. Really got the peach flavor coming through. Brunch: Monkey bread- very tasty sugary delight. A huge plate too. Could have made me full all on its own if I was a lesser man. Eggs benedict- As far as eggs benedict goes I'd say it was above average. Did it blow me away? No. But It's far better than anything I can do which is more than enough for me. As a side note the decor of the restaurant is also really nice. It's a really cozy feel and the brick designs work really well. So the key question here is why 4 not 5 stars. Obviously Ive claimed the food is pretty good and it's a fun environment. But the key word here is 'pretty.' There was nothing that blew me away in terms of the food. The dessert was the closest but one dessert item just simply isn't enough to seal the deal. Although it's priced reasonably well and that's certainly a plus for a Vegas restaurant, it's just not out of this world. I'll be back though I know that.
