| - I really do like KX. I have been shopping at this location for about the last year or so and I think the best parts about it are the staff and the shopping. The clothing selection is nice, the store is a good size, and the staff is wonderful. I really like the full-time staff, especially the Mr. Manager and the one associate with the short light-colored hair. I started going there so frequently that I think they might recognize me now. It's nice to feeling comfortable when shopping. They are partially the sole reason why I love the place so much. 10/10 staff. The clothing is mostly Forever 21/H&M but if it's cute, it's cute. Pricing ranges from $10-$25 I find. For someone that hates spending a lot of money because of a compulsive shopping tendency, this lets me have fun without feeling guilty. Keep in mind I think their sales are final once you purchase.
There are things people need to know before they go into KX so they don't have ruined expectations, which I think is a lot of what people experience. For the most part, this is not a place that will give you a fair price for your clothing. When I say 'fair price', I mean if you bought something for a good amount of money, don't expect half of what you paid. Expect $4-$12, the most I have gotten was $10 on an item. Maybe they'll give you more for something really special, I don't know. I think the best place for more money would be consignment stores instead of KX. This seems to be their business model set up by higher management. It's not the associates fault s/he can't buy your item, it's rules set up by management. I get store credit and that seems to be the most worthwhile, but I would only get cash if I was broke and needed enough for a bottle of wine or something. Secondly, if you 'donate' something, they sell it anyways. I have seen it happen twice now with multiple 'donated' clothing on two separate occasions.. I always feel a little bummed since I would've preferred a store credit for it if they were going to sell it anyways. Thirdly, don't expect them to buy all of your stuff. It's only happened once when I've had them take almost the whole bag. Nowadays, they usually only take 5-7 of my items. Again, I think the upper management has the stores on such a tight leash for how much they can buy back within the budget.
Here are some tips though, if you are like me and love shopping there. 1. Go to the store frequently, check who are the full-timers. SELL YOUR STUFF TO THEM! In my experience, the p/t staff barely take anything, while f/t seem to have a better eye for what is good for the store. They are more reasonable I think. 2. Sell in the early afternoon, preferably on weekdays. I like to call ahead of time to verify that they can either give me cash if I need. It's less busy and won't take as long. Weekends are the worst, try to avoid. 3. For BAG SALES, GO EARLY! I went about 15 mins after they opened on the first day of the sale during an early winter bag sale. The best. I got so many adorable things, an American Apparel dress, a rain jacket, a tweed skirt, a bunch of things. I didn't bother to try things on . The last time I went to one it was on the Saturday and later in the evening. Everything was pretty much picked through at this point. Nothing worthwhile.
