It seems most of the nurses pass the work onto the CNA's. Diane, and her care and attention, was a God sent.
Where do I start.......there are NO DOCTORS, in the building and the Dr's here, we found out, aren't employees of the facility. I was told by the Executive Director (that's how bad things got, I had to talk to him), the facility has no control over the Dr's and Dr's don't have schedules, so the come in whenever they want. We were told by a physical therapist - sometimes Dr's do not come in, for 2 week stretches.
After 2 days of being here, by chance, my sister was here when dr. Patel came in. Sister explained our concerns and mom's medical issues. He told her he would be back Wednesday, to talk to the family about exrays, tests etc and determine a game plan. We thought GREAT!!! FINALLY we'll get some answers and help. SILLY me. My dad got to the facility at 7 am (because mom fell out of her bed. We asked about railings, but was told they can't use railings because its against the law & considered imprisonment....I guess safety to stop injuries is nonsense). We had 4 family members waiting for the dr. By chance, a nurse came in & she said Dr was off Wednesday and would be off Thursday. This was 3:30 in afternoon. We had been there for 8 1/2 hours waiting for the Dr that TOLD US, he would meet us on Wednesday. PT person told us our best bet was to call the dr. Directly, because the facility wouldn't, so we did. Left a message with the answering service. He returned our call 2 hours later and said he would be in Thursday at 1. Thursday at 1 comes, 2, 3 and 4 comes and goes....4:30 he FINALLY shows up. We tell him sign paperwork to transfer her out of here.
Let's not forget i saw one of the nurses (Bernadette) use the same needle twice for medication. I asked if this was ok, she said sure. Told upper management & executive director and was told that didn't seem right and was going be in touch with their infectious disease person.
We get the Dr to sign off and new place rep and mom to sign paperwork and we think thank God, we're out of this hell hole. NOPE, a Life Care representative comes in 2 hours later saying we can't leave because she didn't get paperwork signed. Sorry, lady, dr. Signed off, we're out of here. Another 2 hours between calls back and forth between Life Care, new place and dr, confirmed we're leaving.
Sooo, you can't have railings up to stop people from falling out of bed, because it's imprisonment, but you can hold someone here, against their will - isn't that kidnapping.
Emergency button - It's nothing to wait 20- 30 minutes before someone comes to check & that's with going to the nurses desk asking for help on top of it.
Housekeeping - what housekeeping. CNA takes trash out, but had unused nebulizers, cotton balls, food etc, on the floor. We also had mold on the ceiling tile.
I asked for a cup of ice. I was told go to the dining room. How about you unlock the door behind you and use the ice machine, in that room.
This is just horrible!!! 8:30 can't come soon enough!
